Holland, MI—Holland Energy Fund, a nonprofit corporation supporting the City of Holland’s Community Energy Plan, has launched a new home improvement program. The Holland Home Energy Retrofit Program (HER) launched in August, and offers a 20 percent rebate on qualifying energy-saving home improvements exceeding $10,000 to City of Holland homeowners.

“The Holland Energy Fund is committed to making it easier for homeowners to make investments that will pay for themselves over time, plus make their homes more comfortable,” said Holland Energy Fund President, Tim Vagle. The HER program helps homeowners do just that.

The HER program was intentionally designed to help educate residents on the benefits of energy efficiency improvements, offer incentives and be accessible to all homeowners in the community. The program also gives City of Holland homeowners guidance from Residential Home Energy Advisor, Peter Boogaart.

“The HER program is a great opportunity for Holland homeowners,” Boogaart said, “We work with the residents throughout the process, helping to make financing easy, while achieving substantial energy efficiency improvements.”  The program already has eleven residences that have begun the application process and many more inquires.

The Holland Home Energy Retrofit Program (HER) is one of two Holland Energy Fund programs. The non-profit will also launch the Holland On-Bill Loan Program (OBLP) in October. Eligible home improvements are listed in the Michigan Energy Measures Database (MEMD), and cover energy efficient enhancements ranging from insulation and appliances to windows and solar panels.

The OBLP will provide low interest loans to City of Holland homeowners who wish to finance MEMD home improvements that are repaid directly through their Holland Board of Public Works electric bill.  Loans range from $5,000 – $30,000 with terms up to 15 years.  The OBLP can be used in conjunction with the 20 percent incentive offered by the HER program.  A $3M credit line was approved for the Holland Energy Fund by both Holland Board of Public Works and the City of Holland in August to support the loan program.

Holland Energy Fund recently launched a new website, HollandEnergyFund.com, where more information regarding Holland Energy Fund and its programs can be found.
